Preserving the Divine Institution of Marriage

One week ago, I had the opportunity of participating in some filming in favor of Prop 8. The Church has done a phenomenal job presenting good, valuable information. Involvement in this cause has become very personal and important to me to be a part of--especially when I am typically not strongly political. I have been very grateful for what I have learned and for the time and efforts of others--it is apparent to me that from this point on, standing on the side-lines is no longer an option. I hope to never look back and regret not letting my voice be heard and that with a spirit of love and understanding, that I will be able to be a positive influence to the world around me.

The Hills Are Alive!

Last Friday night, a group of friends trekked up to the Hollywood Bowl for The Sound of Music! Needless to say, it was a nostalgic night and we all left a little hoarse from singing along at the top of our lungs. If you are ever in the area when this is playing, you must buy your tickets and attend. Oh, and don't forget to take along a little jam and bread to munch on during the movie!

During each singing of Edelweiss, cell phones opened and illuminated the crowd...

Drag Nuns...need I say more?

Ashli brought along her bedazzled microphone for all of us to sing along with...

Afterwards, Jana and I determine that we must organize a ward musical production...

Annalise put in her two cents...

I don't think Megan liked our choice, but Ashli looks like she does!

Jungle fever...

So, I've done it again...oh the days of large craft projects... It started with carving 12 pumpkins for a pumpkin village, then moved on to a whole haunted forest wired to the railings outside my apartment. This year its turned into 300 cupcakes for stake relief society enrichment and last week, decorations for the YSA Preference dance "It's a Jungle Out There".

Well, just like my signature karaoke song "Rollin' on the River", where it states, that they "never, ever, do nothin' nice, and easy...", it seems that's how my ideas go as well. Thanks to the help and support of good friends who pitched in and let me boss them around, the foliage on the church grounds, and a few trips to home depot, the gym was transformed for one spectacular night! I am happy to report, very few tears were shed in the making of this project...and many laughs were shared!

The pictures really don't doit justice! Oh, and the volcano was built and rocked by Mark Chapman and his mother--who I absolutely think is so fun and wonderful!

I LOOOOVVVVE reminiscing!

This totally sounds like fun, here's how you play:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I write...

So, about a month ago I received an email from LDSWA asking if I would be interested in writing for their new online magazine. I was referred to by my sis-in-law Erin, and so I am giving it a go! Heaven knows I don't have any problem giving my opinion when asked for it--so, this could be really fun! So, check it out and let me know what you think? Suggestions would be great too!

Oh, and one more thing...

Oh, and I forgot the other exciting event coming this year—May 21st-ish, is the arrival of a new baby niece (to be named at a later date). So, I think it would be fun to do a name the baby game. What should my sister name her little girl and why?

1. Jane Stanley (because it has four letters and will fit on a stocking perfectly!)
2. Pammy Lee Stanley (because Pam always wanted someone to be named after her, and it rhymes. lol)

What do you think?
